The Unanswered Questions Behind Shanquella Robinson’s Death in Mexico

On October 28, 2022, 25-year-old Shanquella Robinson, a business owner from Charlotte, North Carolina, traveled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with six friends for what was meant to be a birthday celebration.

Tragically, less than 24 hours after arriving, she died.

Shortly after her passing, her companions contacted her mother, stating that her death was related to alcohol. However, their explanation quickly raised concerns — especially when the group returned to the United States without her and provided limited details about what had actually happened.

The situation became even more troubling when Shanquella’s family received the official autopsy report from Mexican authorities.

According to the report, she had sustained severe injuries to her neck and spine — findings that directly contradicted the explanation given by her friends.

Public concern escalated further when a video began circulating online. The footage appeared to show Shanquella being physically assaulted inside the villa while others were present. In the video, she appears disoriented and does not fight back, while someone in the background can be heard making a disturbing remark.

The video sparked widespread outrage and brought international attention to the case.

Mexican authorities later classified her death as a femicide and issued an arrest warrant for a suspect believed to be involved.

In the United States, the FBI launched its own investigation. Despite public pressure and the video evidence, federal officials later announced they would not pursue criminal charges, citing insufficient evidence under U.S. law.

The decision was met with heavy criticism, especially from Shanquella’s family, who continue to push for accountability.

To this day, the case remains unresolved.

Her family maintains that the evidence clearly shows she was harmed — and they continue to seek justice, determined not to let her story be forgotten.
