In 2019, the disappearance of Tylee Ryan, 16, and her younger brother Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, became one of the most widely followed cases in the United States. The siblings had recently moved to Rexburg, Idaho, with their mother, Lori Vallow.
The children were last seen in September 2019. As weeks passed without confirmed contact, concern grew among family members and authorities, eventually leading to a nationwide search.
During this time, Lori Vallow declined to provide clear information about the children’s whereabouts. She later left the state with her husband, Chad Daybell, further intensifying public concern.
In June 2020, investigators conducted a search of Chad Daybell’s property in Idaho. During the search, they located the remains of both children, bringing a tragic end to the months-long investigation.
The discovery led to significant legal proceedings. Prosecutors presented evidence suggesting that Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell were influenced by extreme beliefs that played a role in their actions.
In 2023, Lori Vallow was convicted on multiple charges, including those related to the deaths of her children, and was sentenced to life in prison.
In 2024, Chad Daybell was also found guilty following his trial. His conviction further concluded the legal process connected to the case.
The case of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow remains one of the most devastating family-related cases in recent years, highlighting the consequences of harmful ideologies and their impact on vulnerable individuals.
