On June 27, 1995, Jodi Huisentruit, a 27-year-old television news anchor in Mason City, Iowa, disappeared under circumstances that remain unresolved decades later.
Early that morning, Jodi called her producer around 4 a.m. to report that she had overslept but was on her way to work. This would be the last confirmed contact anyone had with her.
When she failed to arrive at the station, concern quickly grew. Authorities were called to her apartment complex, where her vehicle was found in the parking lot.
The scene suggested a sudden struggle. Personal items, including a shoe, hairspray, earrings, and a hairdryer, were discovered scattered near the car. Her key was bent in the lock, indicating force.
Investigators also noted drag marks near the vehicle, leading them to believe she was taken quickly. No witnesses reported hearing significant noise or disturbance at the time.
In the weeks leading up to her disappearance, Jodi had expressed concerns to friends that she felt she was being watched. A white truck had reportedly been seen near her residence.
She had also begun taking self-defense classes, suggesting she was aware of potential danger prior to the incident.
Despite extensive investigations, no confirmed trace of Jodi Huisentruit has ever been found. In 2001, she was legally declared deceased.
The case remains open, with ongoing interest from investigators and the public.
More than two decades later, her disappearance continues to be one of Iowa’s most enduring and mysterious unsolved cases.
