In November 2016, the death of 18-year-old Emma Walker in Knoxville, Tennessee, became a widely followed case due to both the nature of the crime and the investigative methods used to solve it.
Emma was inside her home when a shot was fired from outside, passing through the wall and striking her while she was in her bedroom. The incident immediately raised concerns and led to an intensive investigation.

The recorded conversations, along with phone data and other circumstantial evidence, became central to the prosecution’s case.
In 2018, Riley Gaul was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after several decades.
