A case in Kentucky has drawn attention after authorities reported that a toddler was found with a fresh tattoo.
Brook Ann McDaniel, 27, from Monticello, Kentucky, was taken into custody after Kentucky State Police responded to a home in Columbia on May 4 following a complaint.
According to court documents, officers observed a small black dot tattoo on the right forearm of her 22-month-old son. The mark appeared recent, with visible redness around the area.
During the investigation, McDaniel told officers she had been working on a tattoo on her own leg when the child approached and placed his arm near the tattoo device. Witness statements included in police reports also indicated that she described the mark as something the child “wanted,” referring to it as a “party dot.”
McDaniel is now facing a charge of fourth-degree assault involving child abuse, which is classified as a misdemeanor.
Authorities also noted concerns about the condition of the home, prompting involvement from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which has begun reviewing the situation.
The case remains under investigation.
