Law enforcement officials in Houston, Texas, have launched an intensive search for a 24-year-old man accused of killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child. Kevin Faux faces capital murder charges in connection with the death of 23-year-old Ashanti Allen, who was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.
Allen was reported missing on April 8 after she was last seen leaving the 8700 block of Main Street in Houston’s South Main neighborhood. Her body was discovered eight days later on April 16, late in the morning, along Willow Waterhole Bayou near Chimney Rock Park, approximately six miles southwest of her residence.
The victim’s family confirmed that both Allen and her unborn child had died. The young woman had been experiencing a high-risk pregnancy at the time of her disappearance, according to police reports. The specific cause of death has not been released by authorities.
Allen’s father expressed his grief over the loss of his daughter and unborn grandson. He described his daughter as a normal, pretty young woman who was working and trying to build her life. He had been preparing to purchase a car seat and stroller for his expected grandchild when he received the devastating news.
The last time Allen’s family saw her, she was in her mother’s vehicle, which has since been recovered by law enforcement. The day following her disappearance, Allen’s mother received a text message from her daughter’s phone that appeared suspicious. The message suggested Allen was leaving and not returning, which immediately alarmed the family as it was completely out of character. Their concerns were heightened when they discovered all of Allen’s belongings, including items she had collected for her baby, remained in her apartment.
Court records reveal that Faux had a documented history of domestic violence against Allen. In September 2025, he was charged with assault-continuous family violence stemming from two separate incidents. The following February, Faux accepted a plea agreement for a misdemeanor count of assault of a family member. He received a sentence of 280 days in county jail but was credited with 143 days already served and subsequently obtained early release.
The charges against Faux were initially filed as murder but were later elevated to capital murder by prosecutors. Despite the upgraded charges and ongoing manhunt, Faux remains at large.
