When Byron Haddow’s body was examined again in Queensland, forensic staff made a discovery that shocked his family.

His heart was not present.

The family was later told that the organ had been retained in Bali for testing and was only returned after they paid a fee. Officials in Denpasar described this as standard practice, but Byron’s family said they were never informed or asked for consent.

At the same time, other concerning details began to surface.

Reports indicated there had been a four-day delay before Byron’s d*ath was officially reported to Indonesian police. During that period, the villa where he had been staying was reportedly cleaned and even used again, potentially affecting any evidence that could have helped explain what happened.

It also emerged that three Australian men had been with Byron the night before he was found. Their accounts of events reportedly varied, leaving investigators with an unclear timeline of his final hours.

Because of these inconsistencies, Queensland authorities launched a coronial investigation to examine the circumstances more closely. Australian consular officials have also requested further clarification from Indonesian authorities regarding the handling of the case.
