In August 2013, Brandon Lawson, a 26-year-old father of four from Texas, disappeared under circumstances that would become one of the state’s most puzzling missing-person cases. His story began on a rural highway near Bronte late at night.
Brandon had been driving when his truck ran out of fuel. Shortly after midnight, he placed a 911 call requesting help. During the call, his speech appeared confused and distressed, raising immediate concern.
He told the dispatcher that he believed he was being followed, though much of his statement was difficult to understand. Before any clear details could be confirmed, the call abruptly ended.
Family members arrived at the location shortly afterward. They found Brandon’s truck parked along the roadside, with his wallet and phone still inside. However, Brandon himself was nowhere to be found.
Search teams quickly launched efforts across the surrounding area, which included rugged land, fields, and oil-related terrain. Despite extensive searches, no clear trail or confirmed sightings were discovered.
Over time, the 911 call became a key piece of the investigation. It led to ongoing speculation about what Brandon may have been experiencing in those final moments.
For nearly a decade, the case remained unresolved. Then in 2022, human remains were located less than a mile from where his truck had been found.
In 2023, DNA testing confirmed the remains belonged to Brandon Lawson. While this discovery provided some answers, it did not fully explain how or why he ended up there.
Today, the case continues to leave unanswered questions, particularly about what occurred in the moments following his final call for help.
