In 1939, Lina Medina from Peru became known worldwide as the youngest confirmed mother in recorded medical history. Her case remains one of the most unusual and widely discussed medical events ever documented.

At the age of five, Lina was taken to a hospital after her family noticed unusual swelling in her abdomen. Doctors initially suspected a tumor or other medical condition.
