Florida Woman Uses Pizza App to Escape Hostage Situation

In 2015, a Florida woman found herself in a dangerous situation but managed to get help in an unexpected way.

Cheryl Treadway was being held against her will by her boyfriend inside their home. Unable to safely call for help directly, she turned to an unconventional method.

Using the Pizza Hut mobile app, she placed an order for delivery. In the special instructions section, she included a hidden message requesting emergency assistance, writing: “Please help. Get 911 to me. 911 hostage help!”

Employees at the Pizza Hut location noticed the unusual request and took it seriously. They contacted authorities, who responded to the situation.

Law enforcement arrived at the home and were able to safely intervene.

The case is often cited as an example of quick thinking in a crisis, showing how everyday tools can sometimes be used in unexpected ways to seek help.
