Kaleb Mickens, a Fort Worth influencer known online as “Cash Cartier,” has been sentenced to decades in prison in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Sheila Cuevas.
The incident occurred on October 8, 2023, inside their apartment in Tarrant County, Texas. Mickens contacted emergency services, claiming that his dog had attacked Cuevas and that she was no longer breathing. Based on this report, animal control took custody of the dog, which was later euthanized.
However, investigators determined that the injuries sustained by Cuevas did not match an animal attack. According to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, she had suffered severe trauma, including multiple broken ribs and extensive bruising.
Mickens later pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated assault involving family violence. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
In addition, he received a 20-year sentence for a probation violation and another 15-year sentence tied to a separate aggravated assault case from prior offenses.
While the medical examiner could not determine a single definitive cause of death, authorities ruled out the dog as being responsible.
During sentencing, multiple individuals provided statements describing past incidents of abuse. Members of Cuevas’ family also addressed the court.
The case drew attention due to the severity of the injuries, the initial claim involving the dog, and the broader pattern of violence presented during the proceedings.
