Three prisoners have been sentenced to life in prison after the killing of an inmate already serving a life sentence for the murder of a young child.
Lee Newell (57), Mark Fellows (47), and David Taylor (64) were convicted of the murder of 33-year-old Kyle Bevan, who was incarcerated for the 2020 killing of his partner’s two-year-old daughter, Lola.
Court records show that Bevan had inflicted 101 visible injuries on the child and caused severe head trauma, including bruising to her ear and bleeding inside her skull.
While serving his sentence, Bevan was killed inside the prison by the three men.
Following the attack, the perpetrators placed his body in bed and covered him, making it appear as though he was asleep.
The case is particularly notable due to the backgrounds of those involved.
Lee Newell had previously been sentenced to life in 2013 for killing another inmate who had also murdered a child, making this the second such killing he has committed in prison.
David Taylor was already serving 20 years to life for the murder of a 24-year-old woman, along with an additional 30-year sentence for the attempted murder of a police officer during a prison incident.
Mark Fellows had been sentenced to life in 2019 after being convicted of two separate killings, in 2015 and 2018.
All three men have now received additional life sentences for the murder of Bevan.
The case raises ongoing questions about prison safety, inmate violence, and how high-risk offenders are managed within correctional systems.
