In December 1991, the disappearance of 10-year-old Jérôme Cantet in Courbevoie, France, became one of the country’s most enduring unsolved cases.

On December 14, Jérôme left his home carrying 300 French francs and his skateboard. He told his mother he was going to the Les Quatre Temps shopping center to buy her a Christmas gift.

They agreed to meet shortly afterward at a designated location inside the mall. However, Jérôme never arrived at the meeting point.

When he failed to return home, his mother reported him missing later that evening. Authorities quickly launched a search effort involving police, volunteers, and tracking dogs.

The search dogs followed Jérôme’s trail to a parking garage near the shopping center, where his skateboard was found. This became the last physical evidence linked to him.

Despite extensive investigation, no confirmed witnesses or surveillance evidence provided clarity on what happened next.

In the months following his disappearance, Jérôme’s mother reportedly received distressing phone calls. In one instance, a child’s voice was heard calling for help, which she believed to be her son.

However, the calls were never conclusively traced, and authorities were unable to verify the identity of the voice.

The case gained widespread attention and remained active, but no definitive leads emerged over time.

More than three decades later, Jérôme Cantet has never been found. His disappearance continues to be remembered as a deeply troubling mystery, marked by unanswered questions and a lack of closure.
