Richmond Mother Charged After Deaths of Twin Toddlers

A case in Richmond, Virginia, has drawn significant attention after the deaths of two young children led to serious criminal charges.

According to Richmond police, 21-year-old Amaya Dixon has been charged with two counts of felony m*rder and two counts of child neglect in connection with the deaths of her 17-month-old twin sons.

Officers responded to an apartment on April 17 at approximately 8:39 p.m. following a report of two children in distress. When first responders arrived, they found the toddlers in a bathtub with injuries consistent with drowning.

Both children were transported to a local hospital. One of the twins was pronounced d*ad later that evening, while the second child passed away the following day.

Following an investigation led by the department’s Major Crimes Unit, Dixon was taken into custody on May 7 after a grand jury issued an indictment.

Authorities have not released a motive, and investigators have not provided further details about what led up to the incident or whether anyone else was present at the time.

The case remains under investigation.
