Taylor Parker Case: A Deception That Ended in Tragedy

In 2020, a case in Texas shocked the nation after a long pattern of deception led to a tragic and violent outcome.

Taylor Parker, 29, was convicted of capital m*rder in the death of her 21-year-old friend, Reagan Simmons-Hancock, who was 34 weeks pregnant at the time.

Parker had met Reagan in 2019 while photographing her wedding. Over the following months, Parker maintained an elaborate false narrative about being pregnant, using items such as a prosthetic belly, staged images, and fabricated updates to convince others, including her boyfriend.

On October 9, 2020, while her boyfriend was at a hospital expecting the birth of a child, Parker went to Reagan’s home in New Boston, Texas. Authorities later determined that Parker carried out a violent attack that resulted in Reagan’s death and the removal of her unborn child.

Later that morning, Parker was stopped by a state trooper while driving, holding the infant and attempting life-saving measures. Both were transported to a hospital in Oklahoma.

Medical staff quickly determined Parker had not given birth. The infant, Braxlynn Sage Hancock, did not survive.

Emergency services were contacted shortly afterward by Reagan’s family.

In October 2022, Parker was found guilty of capital mrder. On November 9, 2022, a jury sentenced her to dath following deliberation. In November 2025, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upheld both the conviction and sentence.

Parker is currently held at the Patrick L. O’Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas. No execution date has been set.

The case remains one of the most disturbing examples of deception escalating into violence, raising ongoing questions about warning signs and intervention.
