A disturbing case out of the UK has left a young family without a father and a community in shock.
In November 2021, 24-year-old Calum Simpson, a father of four, was killed after being drugged without his knowledge.
At the time of his death, his youngest child was just 11 days old.
Authorities say 27-year-old Dylan Brister and 21-year-old Cameron Allan gave Simpson Etizolam, a powerful sedative, rendering him unable to defend himself.
Once the drug took effect, the two men carried out a prolonged assault.
Investigators later discovered that Brister and Allan attempted to conceal what had happened by deleting video recordings from their phones.
When questioned by police, both men claimed that Simpson had been conscious and had consented.
However, forensic analysis recovered the deleted footage, which contradicted their statements and helped establish the truth of the events.
Both Brister and Allan were ultimately convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
The case has drawn attention not only for the brutality of the crime, but for the devastating impact on Simpson’s children, including a newborn who will grow up without ever knowing his father.
