A Kentucky man has been sentenced following a case involving severe abuse of an infant that authorities described as deeply disturbing.
Mykill Puckett, 26, of Webster County, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including:
First-degree rape
Incest
First-degree assault
First-degree criminal abuse
First-degree wanton endangerment
The charges stem from abuse involving a 6-month-old infant.
The case came to light in August 2023, when hospital staff reported signs of severe injuries consistent with abuse.
As part of his sentence, Puckett:
Will not be eligible for parole
Must serve five years of post-incarceration supervision
Is required to register as a sex offender for life
Is subject to a 10-year protective order preventing contact with the child
Authorities described the case as shocking and tragic, raising continued concerns about how the justice system handles severe crimes against children.
Puckett’s partner, Holly Jo Jones, was also arrested and faces charges of first-degree assault and criminal abuse. Her case is still pending.
