A Florida woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say she drove her vehicle toward a group of children and made alarming remarks during the incident.
Pamela Jean Dresser, 59, is currently being held in the Brevard County Jail following an incident that occurred on the evening of June 7 at an apartment complex.
According to witnesses, Dresser allegedly swerved her vehicle toward four children who were playing on the sidewalk, forcing them to run for safety toward a nearby house.
Investigators say Dresser later admitted to making a comment referring to the act as “target practice,” though she claimed it was meant as a joke.
She denied intentionally trying to hit the children, telling officers she had made a wide turn to avoid a cart and later drove in circles in a nearby gravel lot.
However, the situation escalated when law enforcement arrived.
Police described Dresser as highly agitated, and she allegedly made threats toward responding officers, including mentioning a “special present” coming their way.
The children’s mother also told investigators that Dresser made a rude gesture and shouted a racial slur during the incident.
Dresser now faces 10 charges, including:
Four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill
Four counts of child abuse without great bodily harm
Two counts of making threats against a public servant
The case remains under investigation.
