A New York school board official is facing charges after authorities say he engaged in inappropriate communications with a young child.
Travis J. Longo, 46, who serves as vice president of the Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education, was arrested Thursday night.
According to the New York State Police, Longo faces four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators allege that Longo engaged in a pattern of explicit communications with a child under the age of 12.
Longo was elected to the school board in May 2024 and remains a member at this time. However, the district has taken immediate action following the arrest.
School officials confirmed that Longo has been barred from all school grounds, and Superintendent Kevin Linck informed families that the district became aware of the situation through public reports.
The district emphasized that student safety is its top priority as the case moves forward.
Longo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
