In January 2019, 23-year-old Savannah Spurlock, a mother of four from Kentucky, went out with friends in Lexington and never returned home.

Surveillance footage captured her leaving a bar in the early hours of January 5 with three men. One of them, David Sparks, later told investigators that Savannah had willingly gone with them to his residence in Garrard County.

Despite early leads, months passed with no clear answers. Her disappearance remained unsolved as law enforcement continued searching and her family desperately sought information about what had happened.

About six months later, the case took a major turn.

Authorities received a tip that led them to a property owned by Sparks’ family. During the search, investigators discovered Savannah’s remains buried behind a storage structure. Personal belongings connected to her were also found at the scene.

An autopsy confirmed that her death was a homicide, although officials did not publicly release the exact cause.

David Sparks, identified as the last known person to be with Savannah, was arrested and charged in connection with her death.

He later pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. As part of his sentence, he received 50 years in prison.

The case, while resolved in court, left a lasting impact on her family and community — a tragic reminder of how quickly a night out can turn into something far more serious.
