A man in Louisiana has been arrested following an alleged assault involving a woman who had recently given birth, according to authorities in West Monroe.
Police say 38-year-old Cecil Fuller has been charged with second-degree rape in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred in the early morning hours, approximately two weeks after the victim delivered her child.
Investigators stated that Fuller and the victim had known each other for more than a decade. According to reports, the encounter escalated after Fuller made an inappropriate request, which the woman refused.
Authorities allege that the situation quickly turned violent when Fuller followed her into another room and assaulted her.
The incident reportedly ended when the infant made a noise, prompting Fuller to stop. The victim later contacted law enforcement, leading to an investigation and Fuller’s arrest.
Officials have highlighted the seriousness of the case, particularly noting the element of trust between the individuals involved.
The case remains under investigation as prosecutors continue legal proceedings.
