So they decided to handle it themselves.
In Ohio, Corey Cornutt and Savannah Grillot were dealing with repeated thefts near their home. Instead of relying only on police or increasing security, investigators say the couple created their own solution.
They set a trap.
According to authorities, they left a bicycle out in their yard, unlocked and visible, waiting for someone to take it. But this wasn’t about recovering stolen property.
It was about what happened next.
Police allege that when someone attempted to take the bike, the couple would confront them with baseball bats. The encounters were not only physical, but also recorded.
And it didn’t happen just once.
Investigators say this pattern continued over several months, with multiple incidents taking place between July and November.
At least one person required medical attention.
What turned the situation into a criminal case, however, was the footage.
Authorities say the videos were shared online, drawing attention to what had been happening and ultimately leading to an investigation.
In January 2020, both Cornutt and Grillot were arrested.
The case quickly spread online because of how it reversed expectations.
What began as frustration over theft ended with the homeowners themselves facing serious charges, raising questions about where the line is drawn between protecting your property and taking justice into your own hands.
