A Florida man is now facing serious charges after investigators say they uncovered an enormous amount of illegal material on his devices.
Authorities in Volusia County arrested 40-year-old Trent Prather after a search of his electronic devices allegedly revealed more than 42,000 photos and videos involving young children.
According to officials, the material is believed to involve girls ranging in age from approximately 4 to 10 years old.
The case has raised additional concerns due to Prather’s prior history.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he had previously been investigated in Utah in 2011 for similar allegations. That case resulted in probation.
He was investigated again in 2018 after a tip about downloaded files, but authorities in Utah did not file charges at that time, citing insufficient evidence.
The current case is ongoing, and investigators continue to examine the full scope of the material and any potential connections.
