A routine workday turned into a tragedy when a young mother was killed during the middle of a lunch rush.
Authorities say 27-year-old Alyssa Hill was working her shift at a Skyline Chili restaurant in Norwood, Ohio, when she was attacked by her former boyfriend.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on June 2, 2026, inside the busy Montgomery Road location, with customers and coworkers present.
Police say Hill was stabbed while serving customers.
Multiple people inside the restaurant called 911 as the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Officers quickly located and arrested 37-year-old Rick Wright at a nearby bank. Witnesses reported seeing him being led out in handcuffs, with one person claiming he appeared to wave at bystanders.
Wright has been charged with murder and was ordered held without bond following his court appearance.
Prosecutors also highlighted his criminal history, which includes prior convictions for assault, robbery, drug trafficking, and other offenses. Authorities confirmed he was on probation at the time of the incident.
Friends and loved ones described Hill as a dedicated mother who worked tirelessly to support her family.
She is survived by two young children and was known for working long hours, often seven days a week, while also helping care for her father.
The case remains ongoing.
