Actor Faizon Love, known for roles in Elf, Friday, and Couples Retreat, recently appeared in a Florida courtroom facing legal issues tied to unpaid child support.
Love was arrested on June 16, 2026, in Hillsborough County, Florida, on two counts of contempt of court.
According to court proceedings, the charges stem from failure to pay ordered child support, which was set at $2,500 per month.
During the hearing, Love’s attorney, Glen Lansky, told the court that the actor had fallen on difficult financial times. He stated that Love had at one point been homeless and living in his car, though later clarified that the situation was temporary and that Love is currently staying with a friend in California.
Court records show that Love’s income has been limited in recent years. He reportedly relies on annual royalty payments from the film Elf, which bring in around $10,000 per year.
Documents presented in court indicated that his highest annual income in the past five years was approximately $13,000, and that he reported no income for 2025.
Love told the court he was unable to meet the required child support payments due to his financial situation.
Following a court appearance on June 19, Love was released from custody. A judge ordered him to submit a financial statement by July 1, 2026, to demonstrate his inability to pay.
The case remains ongoing.
