The family of Anna Kepner has released an emotional statement following the arrest of her stepbrother, who is accused in connection with her death.
According to reports, the suspect is now in custody and awaiting trial.
In a statement shared with ABC News, Kepner’s family expressed both grief and a sense of relief.
“While birthdays are never the same without her, we continue to honor her memory and cherish the love and joy she brought to our lives,” the family said.
They also spoke about the emotional toll of knowing the accused had remained free for a period of time.
“It was painful for our family to know that he had been free for as long as he was. We are now at peace knowing that he will not be able to harm anyone else while awaiting trial.”
The family added that they remain hopeful for what comes next.
“We remain hopeful for a swift conclusion to this process and for justice to be served.”
The case is ongoing, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
