An Indiana man is facing serious charges after authorities say he carried out a violent assault and then attempted to treat the victim’s injuries himself.
Justin H. Plummer, 44, of Connersville, was arrested after a woman arrived at a hospital with significant injuries she said were caused during an attack at a home.
According to investigators, the woman told police that an argument escalated into violence. She said Plummer allegedly threw her to the ground, pinned her down, and strangled her.
She also reported that he placed a cloth-like object over her face and poured water on it, causing her to lose consciousness at times.
Authorities say he then struck her multiple times in the head with a metal thermos or bottle, leaving a deep laceration that exposed her skull.
After the assault, the victim told police Plummer forced her into a bathroom and attempted to close the wound using superglue.
She was able to escape after Plummer allegedly passed out, and she then sought medical help.
Plummer is currently being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $450,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
