Three instructors in Brazil have been charged after a fatal incident in which a young woman was thrown from a bridge without a safety cord attached.
A 21-year-old physical education student fell more than 130 feet from an abandoned railway bridge during a rope jump activity.
According to investigators, the safety cord was never attached and remained on the platform.
Authorities identified the instructors as:

Maicon Fernandes Cintra, 42
Vitor de Freitas Gonçalves, 27
Reports state the instructors lifted the woman in an “aviãozinho” style, carried her to the edge, and threw her off the bridge.
Witnesses immediately began shouting that the rope had not been secured.
The victim struck the ground below and was initially still alive. A nurse at the scene attempted CPR and reported a brief pulse before it stopped prior to the arrival of emergency responders.
The woman had been wearing a GoPro camera to record the jump, which was later reported missing. Authorities say someone connected to the group allegedly removed it from her body.
During questioning, the instructors gave conflicting statements, saying they could not recall who was responsible for attaching the cord.

Another said roles “flip-flop” between them and he did not notice the rope
The third claimed he had only been called in at the last moment
Two of the suspects attempted to flee into nearby woods but were later located using a military helicopter.
All three have been charged with homicide and are being held in pre-trial detention.
Three additional individuals connected to the jump site were detained briefly but later released.
