A Missouri man has been sentenced to an extraordinary prison term after being convicted in a case involving multiple victims he met through dating apps.
Yahya Maly, 30, of Ballwin, Missouri, was sentenced to 291 years in prison after a jury found him guilty on 17 of 21 counts in St. Louis County Circuit Court.
Maly, a chiropractic student, was convicted in April following allegations that he targeted women through dating platforms and brought them to his apartment, where the assaults occurred.
Authorities say the incidents took place between February 2023 and February 2025.
Investigators reported that Maly used dating apps, including platforms connected to religious communities that promote abstinence, to gain trust. He allegedly used the name “John” online.
Many of the victims were reported to be Muslim women, according to court proceedings.
During sentencing, reports indicate that Maly showed no remorse and maintained his innocence.
His attorney has stated that he plans to appeal the conviction.
