A 22-year-old Alabama woman is now facing serious charges after the death of her 17-month-old son.
Authorities in Baldwin County say Kaitlynn Grace Dominick has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated child abuse following an investigation into the child’s death earlier this month.
According to officials, Dominick brought her son to the University of South Alabama Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Mobile on May 4, 2026. The child, who had a medical condition requiring a surgically placed feeding tube, died the following day.
Hospital staff became concerned after reviewing the child’s lab results and alerted the Alabama Department of Human Resources, which then contacted the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege that a liquid mixture had been introduced into the child’s feeding tube.
Authorities stated the mixture did not contain bleach, alcohol, or illicit drugs. However, officials noted that while the substance might not have had the same effect on a healthy adult, it created a serious medical emergency for a child with existing health conditions.
Some reports, including details cited by local outlets, described the mixture as involving a high concentration of table salt combined with a liquid.
Following the investigation, Dominick was arrested and charged with manslaughter. The case remains ongoing.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
